dog breath

Based on extensive research (the first link returned by a google search) I have determined that dog's mouths are not really cleaner than human's mouths. This particular legend never made sense to me and I have thankfully put it to rest.

falling asleep

My psychology professor says that studies have found the following concerning falling asleep: If you fall asleep less than twenty minutes after laying down you are suffering from sleep deprivation. If it consistently takes you much more than twenty minutes to fall asleep you suffer from a sleeping disorder, most likely insomnia.

phone book

From my Mango Madness Snapple bottle cap: "In 1878, the first telephone book ever issued contained only 50 names."

The wind speed velocity of an unladen (european) swallow has been calculated.

Pita

I've got one for you guys. So I went to the market yesterday, and they had "Perfect" pita and "Authentic" pita, both by the same company (sorry, can't remember which). So, is the implication that "Perfect" pita isn't "Authentic", and that the "Authentic" pita isn't "Perfect"? What's up with that?

I gotta go NOW

So, I awoke this morning with a very urgent need to pee. In my early morning haze and midstream I realized I had been going for a good 30 seconds, which made me wonder just how much volume the average human bladder can hold. Below are my findings and useless fact of the day.

The average human adult bladder filled to capacity can hold about 600 to 800 cm3 (ml). However, the micturition point (the need to pee) is between 150 and 300 cm3 (ml).

Happy peeing everyone!

First One...

Well, since Dirvish was nice enough to make a section just for me and my abundant worthless knowledge I guess I should post stuff here. So, without further ado, a little tid-bit about beer.

"IBU" stands for International Bitterness Units and is a measure of how bitter the brew is relative to other brews. "OG" is Original Gravity, and measures how much heavier than water the wort is before fermentation (and thus how much sugar is present). FG, or Final Gravity, is rarely listed, but it shows how much unfermented sugar is left at the end. If you subtract FG from OG, you can calculate the exact alcohol content of the finished beer.

Now you can thank me when hot women/men at party’s think you're of high intelligence.

First Fact

Shakespeare was the first to use certain words that are now common, including "hurry," "bump," "eyeball," and "anchovy."
