First day of school, and things were generally happy. The weather definitely cooperated, and I got to walk around in shorts and sandals all day (although, I had to wear a jacket... it is, after all, Chicago).
Today, I just had Core Bio and Strategy. Core Bio seems to have been changed recently, so it doesn't seem as hellish as it used to be. We only have 3 writing assignments (2 papers and 1 abstract), and 3 mid-terms. With 3 two hour lectures + writing sessions, it likely will be time consuming though.
Strategy should also be interesting. It's taught by a doctoral student instead of Pape this quarter, but it should be good anyway. With emphasis on contemporary issues like nuclear proliferation and terrorism, it's not exactly the time period I plan on doing my BA on, but it should be interesting nontheless.
Speaking of BA, I met with my advisor. It turns out my "dream major" can't be counted as IS-Hum because IS-Hum only allows one of the 3 fields to be out side of Humanities. Instead, she told me I can try and do Tutorial Studies instead. Tutorial Studies is even more obscure than IS-Hum, and practically nobody's even heard of it... probably because hardly anyone does it (my advisor has had 1 stduent do it in 5 years). It's even less structured than IS-Hum, and there are practically no requirements (other than that I take 13 courses related to my project). There's less paperwork involved in applying than for IS-Hum, but I have to find a fully committed faculty advisor and get my blessings from the Guy In Charge.

What's up with the lack of posts this quarter? How am I supposed to procrastinate properly without updated blogs to read?
