As you've probably heard, a judge in California ruled in favor of Apple, requiring website operators to identify secret informants. Although the general sentiment amongst Apple fans and bloggers seems to be largely against this ruling, I'm actually in favor of the ruling. That is, as the judge said, "An interested public is not the same as the public interest," so informants who leak trade secrets should not be granted the same protection as, say, whistleblowers. Having said that, I still think it was a rotten thing for Apple to do, and certainly detrimental to their mostly positive corporate image.
