I sent off my first job application yesterday (nope, haven't heard back yet), and as I was wondering where to apply next, I read about how cool Yahoo is on 99zeros. I know I said Yahoo was lacking in the cool department, but apparently they're one of the companies that "get it" (incidentally, Brad was apparently at Yahoo today for some conference on web spam or something as well). So I hobbled over to Yahoo, looked around their jobs page, and actually found a few interesting-sounding jobs that I seem like a decent match for. One was for a software engineer focusing on vertical search for the Japanese market, another was a fairly generic web-developer position but for Yahoo games, and they're even looking for a software engineer to work on Yahoo Mail. Last time I tried Yahoo Mail, it wasn't very exciting, but it would be fun to try and get it competitive with GMail (although there might be some conflict of interest if I want to keep working on IlohaMail....). So, yeah, I think they'll be hearing from me soon.
