It appears Sony has come up with an answer to my grievances regarding DV's low quality/resolution. They're coming out with a high definition DV camera. Apparently, in HDV mode it records at 1440x1080 pixels @ 60fps. That's definitely good enough to do some digital FX that'll look good when dropped down to standard DV resolutions (as we did for Ducky).

Now... I wonder if I can get FireEscape to pay $3700 for one of those things. Or maybe I can get a grant. Hell, if they can get a $10k grant to work on a movie about bestiality, I feel like I should be able to get $3700 to work on a super awesome action movie...
