It was tuesday, so I made curry again. Actually, that's not true. I felt like making nan, so I figured I might as well make some curry to go with it. Long story short, I found a nan recipe that sounded good and seemed relatively straight forward. The dough was easy enough to make, but when all was said and done, it didn't quite taste right. I'm not sure what it is, but it might be the fact the dough was baked in a teflon frying pan instead of a tandori oven. It had the right-ish consitency and all, but it just didn't have the right flavor. It tasted kind of like... um, well, cooked dough.
The recipe made 8 little platters, 3 of which I ate for dinner. I packed the rest in ziplock bags and stuck them in the fridge... they'll keep me alive for the next few days. Actualy, they kind of look like the lambus bread in Lord of the Rings which makes them a little fun to eat, even if they don't taste that great.
In response to the shooting at a Lockheed Martin (one of the largest defense contractors in the US) plant near Meridian, Miss. the mayor of the city is quoted as having said "You cannot know the human heart and the destruction it can cause". It is not clear whether he was speaking of US militarism that kills thousands, or the gunman that killed 6.
There was a nice little interview with Linus Torvalds where he talks about what he thinks about the whole SCO case, and what he's been up to after moving to OSDL to work on Linux full time. He's a lucky bastard... he gets paid for working on his pet project. Well, but come to think of it, my only source of income at the moment is the stipend I got for working on IlohaMail so maybe I shouldn't complain.
There's a thread over on Slashdot about grassroots efforts in Europe to translate the new Harry Potter book. Apparently it's pissing off the local official translators, but isn't it sad when people get in trouble for simply re-telling a good story they heard from a far off land in their own language?
It seems like the recall for Gov. Davis is going to happen after all in my sweet home state of California. Apparently an initiative funded by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) successfully collected 1.2 million signatures more than the required 897,000. Assuming that it all goes through, people get to vote on whether or not Grey gets kicked out, and whether Issa (of course there's something in it for the guy who paid $1 million to get Davis out), Camejo or Arny should become the next governor. Yeah, apparently Arnold Schwarzenegger is thinking of entering the race. Hell, we already have a $38 billion deficit, we might as well top it all off by having Terminator be our governor too. Let's just hope that he doesn't pull that "I'll be back" crap on us too often.
