A great article about Google over on NYTimes (free reg). Gives some insight on what Google's like as a work place, but it mostly concentrates on their business aspect.
Mmmm....Google. Someday I'm going to work there.
Safari Beta 2 is out. I switched back to Camino a while back due to various rendering, JavaScript and caching issues in Safari, but maybe I'll give it a second chance...
For most people, the biggest change since the last (official) beta release is the addition of tabs. I'm not much of a tabbed browser myself, so we'll see if it's improved in the other areas.
There's a post over on Slashdot about a couple of security researchers who were prevented from giving a talk on security flaws in a popular ID card system because the vendor issued a Cease and Desist letter that cited, among others, the DMCA.
Not surprisingly, this isn't the first time the DMCA was used to "cover up" for security vulnerabilities. Some might argue that private corporations have the right to use whatever legal means at their disposal to protect their business interests. While this may be the case, it still doesn't justify the law. It's only a matter of time before the DMCA stifles security research to the point to which our society could be at a greater risk. What needs to happen before lawmakers realize this? Some major catastrophe? (Probably not... they'll probably just clamp down even more.)
More fun with floppy disks.
