Ed Gernon, the Executive Producer of the "Hiter: The Rise of Evil" miniseries was fired for making comments drawing parallels between 1930s Germany and the US today, according to
this article. He's quoted as having said that people didn't oppose Bush's Iraq policy because they feared the consequences of dissent. The ironic twist? His employer fired him for having the wrong opinion. I guess he didn't fear the consequences of dissent enough...or maybe he didn't believe what he was saying.
According to
this story on Slashdot, AOL is blocking mail sent/relayed from mail servers on residential DSL lines. This is a move that obviously runs counter to the very philosophy of the internet, and according to some, is a violation of SMTP RFCs. The poster of the story proposes retaliating against AOL by blocking all mail sent from AOL. I'm not sure if retaliation in kind is the best solution, but it'll probably get their attention pretty quickly.
