Police opened fire on a group of protesters in Oakland CA. Apparently they used "Sting Grenades" that contain BB-sized rubber pellets and tear gas.

Apparently duct tape and plastic sheeting isn't enough. Make sure you also stock up on potassium iodide pills. Just in case you don't die from suffocation, you can also consume a bunch of chemicals. Yay.

Another article on Wired about US citizens who are being denied due process of the law for non-existent "terrorism" ties. One such citizen is Asif Iqbal, a management consultant in New York who shares a name with a "terrorist suspect". Here's the thing: the real one has been caught (and is 8 years younger than him) but the Feds still won't get off his back. The article contains numerous other examples.

Also on Wired, a follow up story on Intel programmer Mike Hawash, who was disappeared by the government as a "material witness".

Brilliant satire.

If you ever start losing money from a car wash machine, don't blame it on thieves, blame it on the birds!

Speaking of birds, check out this insanely cute baby llama.

The Guardian has an article that details various false and/or mis-leading claims about the war in Iraq, that have been made by military personnel and reported by the media. Propaganda or innocent incompetence? You be the judge...
