Two Faces. One Public, One Private. One Phony, One Real
On Thursday night sixty-one million people watched George W. Bush for the first time since 9/11 not as that symbol, but as a man. And for those who had not reassessed their belief in his personal leadership since 9/11, it was quite a shock. Their strong leader was inarticulate, arrogant, confused and immature. They must be wondering who that man was.
I just watched the second half of the vice-presidential debate. The grumpy dick seemed extra grumpy tonight. The only time the guy comes across as a normal person is when he is speaking to groups of wealthy conservative business men. I don't care how well he did or did not debate tonight, he once again came across as a nasty business man with little care for the everyday American.
Edwards came across as vibrant and passionate as always. The only problem I had with him was his lackluster defense against Cheney's attacks against his smaller amount of political experience. It seems like it would have been good for him to point out that Americans aren't necessarily looking for a long-time career politician for a vice president. Personally I would appreciate a vice president who is more in touch with the American people.
