    arrested

Chico Police are now making their arrest records available online.

Under a 1996 amendment to the Freedom of Information Act, police agencies had to make the information available electronically within a reasonable amount of time. --Enterprise Record Article
The ER article gives a bad URI, you can find the Chico PD website here and the list here (pdf). The list will be updated every Monday to reflect the previous weeks arrests. The current list has 73 arrests with the most common offense being 'Drunkenness.'

Added @ 5 PM - Speaking of crimes, I just got the following email from the CSUC Police Department:
The mandated 2003 Jeanne Clery crime statistics are posted on the University Police website at http://www.csuchico.edu/up/html/jeanne_clery.html Our office is waiting for confirmed statistics from the City of Chico to complete the 2003 report and will update our website as soon as they are received. Statistics affected are identified with an asterisk. Please share this announcement with those in your office or area without e-mail. Contact Sgt. Paula Carr at 898-5372 with any questions.
Every year Chico State is required to let everyone know how many of each crime were committed on campus. There were 3 cars stolen, but no murders!

    no dialogue

From this CNN article about last night's presidential debate:

Bush and Kerry agreed that the proliferation of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction were the greatest threat to the United States.

But they differed sharply on how to handle North Korea's nuclear aspirations.

Kerry said the U.S. should open bilateral talks with North Korea in addition to talks with the current coalition of nations -- the U.S. and five of North Korea's neighbors.

Bush said that was a bad idea.

"It's not going to work if we open up a dialogue with Kim Jong Il," Bush said. "He wants to unravel the six-party talks, or the five-nation coalition that's sending him a clear message."
What does Bush propose? That we just ignore North Korea and hope it goes away? Or should we just attack them next? What a an idiot...
