Sure, sure. Everybody loves hybrid cars. Almost every automaker is building their own version now that they're sure that people really are not too eager to empty their pockets at the gas pump.
But is someone building a hybrid vehicle in good old Canada? No?
Well don't fret my friends, because now General Motors will.
Reuters has just reported that General Motors of Canada has announced that it will be the first automaker to build hybrid vehicles in Canada and folks there can expect hybrid versions of some familiar GM pickup trucks to hit the market next year.
According to GM Canada its Oshawa Truck Assembly Plant in Ontario will produce the new Two-Mode Hybrid Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, both set to roll onto showroom floors in the fall of 2008.
As we all probably know by now hybrids combines a traditional internal combustion engine with a battery to allow for lower gasoline use thus saving us some precious fuel money resulting to the popularity of green cars like the Toyota Prius, Ford Escape and such.
Perhaps building the hybrid vehicles and its emission parts and exhaust parts will help boost GM Canada's rapidly losing market share, which dropped to 7.7 percent in 2006.

That would be a good news for all Canadian car buyers who can't afford to buy a car with a high cost fuel.. Indeed, building the GM exaust system will be a large step for GM Canada to gain back their losses in the market share...
